This film is the attempt to
reveal both, what I think and how I feel, when a whistle is blew informing that
I will miss my train.
Inspired by the Dada movement, in particular by the
aesthetics of Hannah Höch’s
(1889-1978, Germany) work, this three screens film will be produced using
cutout and stop motion animation. Both techniques were applied in Photograph Of Jesus by Laurie Hill,
which had influenced my choice of procedure.

Left – The Eternal
Folk Dancers (1933)
Right - Cut with
the Kitchen Knife through the Beer-Belly of Weimar Republic (1919)

The film is split in two parts;
the first part consists in a combination between plain colours
and the whistler blower. The former represent the colours of the train, which I
mostly use.
The second part will represent, in
a surrealistic manner, my feelings when the whistle is heard. Because this part
will rely on found images, I chose not to do any storyboard. However, I may
anticipate that the feelings represented in this part will be a mixed between
anger and panic.
The scenery and characters will be
constructed using found images from magazines and newspapers. If needed,
adjustments on these images may be done using Adobe Photoshop. It might be necessary to colour correct the film,
to do this I pretend to use Look Build application,
which I have used before.
The whole project will be shot
using a Go Pro 3+ camera and ‘battery LED push lights’. Therefore, no electric
cables will be needed.

It’s a nice idea to explore the moment when your hopes are dashed; It’s a moment in time when a lot can go through your mind. I feel you need to have more of a back story to help you developed the idea. Where is the train going to that you missed? where have you come from? What are the implications of missing the train? How can you communicate this to the audience? The backstory will then develop what we see on the screens and help the audience understand the moments, feelings you are trying to invoke.
